The 2015 Baseball Winter Meetings have concluded in Nashville, Tennessee, and unlike last season, the Miami Marlins had a rather uneventful stay in the Music City.
The Marlins made headlines for listening more than dealing over the past week, with nearly 20 clubs expressing interest in Marlins ace and former Sun Jose Fernandez. Fernandez remains a Marlin despite all the speculation, although the front office will likely still hear interest in the ace throughout the offseason.
The Marlins were active during the Rule 5 draft yesterday, and Miami also claimed left-handed pitcher Mike Strong off waivers from the Milwaukee Brewers. The Suns saw Strong last year with Biloxi, where he was 4-1 with a 2.54 ERA in 38 relief appearances with the Shuckers.
It will be different not seeing Viosergy Rosa, Zack Cox, and Chipper Smith in either a Suns or Marlins organization season uniform next year. Those three, along with Alex Burgos, were claimed by other clubs yesterday during the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft.
